EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specific therapeutic protocol that is used to re-process adverse or traumatic experiences that have impacted the past, present and future. The EMDR process begins with sessions focused on history taking and preparation, moves to re-processing sessions and then focuses on integration of new skills and resources into present and future situations. EMDR can be used to treat single-incident exposure or complex trauma. The length of time will vary depending on the complexity of the events and the impact it’s had on the individual.

The use of EMDR combines the standard protocol with an emphasis on the nervous system, which means learning how our physical body is responding to situations, attachment experiences in past and current relationships, as well as our emotional experience and the core beliefs we develop as a result of our experiences.

EMDR Sessions and Fees

Research indicates that EMDR is best suited for a minimum of 90-min sessions. EMDR also requires a commitment of being able to consistently attend sessions over the course of time.

Self-Pay Fees: $175 for 85min session

Intensives: Some people choose to engage in EMDR attending less frequent appointments but sessions that are for a longer period of time. For example, one 2-4 hour session once a month as opposed to weekly 1hr sessions. This may be especially true if you are paying out of pocket or if you have scheduling limitations.
